She won the gold during the team competition of the 2016 Olympics that made her and Gabby Douglas the first Americans to win back-to-back golds. She also won two silver medals for her floor exercise as well as individual all-around. In the three years between her two Olympics, she took a break. In addition, she was an athlete on two gold medal winning American gymnastics teams. The event she enjoys the most is the dance on the floor. The gymnastics training began in the year she turned two years older. Aly believes in the Uniting Against Lung Cancer organization in memory of her grandmother who died due to cancer. She hopes to build a career out of fashion. She would also like to extend her leotards line and socks collection. She's currently writing a novel entitled Fierce and will release during the course of the year.
